PW likes Bar None … and new Hellboy interview

Publishers Weekly gives a wonderful review for Bar None in this week’s issue – read it here (scroll down to the SF/Fantasy/Horror section). In part it says:
…a fun, engaging, exceptionally strange and refreshingly original tale for fans of postapocalyptic fiction.
Also, there’s a new interview with me about my Hellboy novel up now at Graeme’s Fantasy Book Review.

Another fine job on Bar None sir, I really enjoyed it. I read a ton of books, and most are just filler: moderately enjoyable, but generally flat. Only a few books I’ve read in the past couple of months have really stood out and gave me pause: McCarthy’s “The Road,” Dennis Lehane’s work, “The Reach of Children,” and “Bar None.” You definitely stand out from the crowd (especially the horror crowd, not much good coming from that bunch these days).
My only problem with Bar None was was that it made me feel like a sheltered pud cause I usually only drink plain old american beer (I’m a High Life man, it is the champagne of beers you know, plus I’m cheap).
Just call me vanilla. Keep up the good work and happy late birthday.

Jason, thanks so much, that’s so kind of you. I’m thrilled with the reaction the book’s been getting. Glad you liked it so much! And yes, I recommend you should try some real ales 🙂
