The Shield

Okay, so I’m pretty late to the game, but last night my wife and I watched the first two episodes of Series One of The Shield. Wow. I’ve heard so much about this show, but I still wasn’t sure what to expect. It’s brilliant – wonderfully written and acted. I’m also aware of what I’ve let myself in for …. I believe Season 7 is beginning right now. Thank you, DVD box sets!
This week I’m working on a short story or two, and also making notes on a screenplay. Trying not to let my mind begin a Christmas wind-down, but on Wednesday I’m out for a drink with some old friends, so Thursday … we shall see.

The series actually just ended, just as brilliantly as it began.

This was one of the best shows on tv, though I’ll have to disagree with Christopher on the ending. I am sad to see it gone, but like you said, DVD box sets are the best.

Hi Tim,
The Shield is great for the first five series. The sixth and seventh season ware a little thin, I really think they should have wrapped it up with Forest Whittaker.
You also discover that Shane and Vic only have two emotions – outrage and the ‘I’ve just pulled one over on you’ face.
Seriously, if your shelling out on box sets – but the Ggoddamn Wire!

I’ve heard great things about THE WIRE too …. but there are only so many hours in the day! I need a SHIELD weekend where I can get through a whole series or two …
