Quote of the Week

Foolish, sad, and rather pathetic Holocaust-denying priest Richard Williamson said in a recent interview:

Throughout my life, I have always sought the truth. That is why I converted to Catholicism and became a priest.

Is it just me who chuckles at that?

  1. Robert says:

I bet he also keeps a copy of The Da Vinci Code underneath his pillow.

  2. Steve Volk says:

Luckily the Da Vinci Code (I think) says “fiction” on the cover.

It’s like that family with 18 kids on TV last night. Devout Christians of course, obeying God’s will and having lots of unprotected sex. Dad says something like “I just don’t by that the earth is billions of years old and we’re descended from monkeys. I think all the evidence points to what is said in the Bible, and I believe the evidence.”

No doubt about it. The world is full of idiots.

  3. Gary says:

Ah but The DaVinci Code should say “shit” on the cover.

“I think all the evidence points to what is said in the Bible, and I believe the evidence.” – wonderful home-grown definition of “evidence” there! Reminds me of the late, great Bill Hicks:

“Why do people who believe in creationism look really unevolved?”

  4. Richard Wright says:

The man who also declared “A woman can do a good imitation of handling ideas, but then she will not be thinking properly as a woman .” At least he’s consistent.

  5. Tim Lebbon says:

Yes, definitely a comedy bishop. Dark comedy.

  6. jason says:

that explains why i haven’t been able to turn tapwater into wine yet though….
