I spent last weekend in Leicester and Derby, giving a 2 hour workshop on Friday in Leicester and attending the Alt.Fiction event in Derby on Saturday. Both were a lot of fun. Saturday I joined fellow scribes and good friends Mark Morris, Sarah Pinborough, Pete Crowther, Ramsey Campbell, Mark Chadbourn, Gary Gry, Gary McMahon, Steve Lockley, Steve Gallagher, Adam Nevill and many, many others giving talks, readings and drunken rambles in Derby’s Assembly Rooms. I also had a couple of fanboy moments, first when I found myself sitting next to Harry Harrison whilst we listened in rapt awe to Jenny Campbell’s ghost story, and secondly at the bar late in the evening when I shook hands with Iain Banks. What a day ….!
