Hay!
Just got back from a very writerly weekend in a cottage just outside Hay on Wye (a little town in South Wales where there are in excess of 35 bookshops …nice). I shared the cottage – nay, mansion! – with Gary Greenwood, Steve Lockley and Chris Teague, and over the course of a weekend I managed to write 15,000 words on my current project. In the evenings, of course, we became even more writerly and drank ale and whiskey in front of an open fire.
The cottage was a nature lover’s paradise. One morning I woke at 8am and made a cuppa, and in the space of 5 minutes in the garden I saw a buzzard, a heron, a squirrel, a field mouse, and many other birds of various shapes and sizes. Oh, and a sheep. This is Wales, after all.
So, a great weekend, and it’s punched a big hole in the work I’ve got to do between now and the end of April. But there’s still a long way to go …
Watch out for a big announcement on this website next Tuesday, 1st March!
