Audioslave Reunion Tour
Sad news … Audioslave, one of the most exciting rock bands I’ve heard in years, have split up. Chris Cornell (formerly Soundgarden and Temple of the Dog) has left the band, apparantly after some sort of fall-out. Sad.
Audioslave made three great albums, and I believe that one of them – the self-titled debut – will become a classic. I was lucky enough to see them live a couple of years back, a stunning gig. I’ve seen A LOT of bands live over the last 20 years, but I honestly don’t think I’ve seen a concert hall go so wild as when Audioslave launched into Rage Against the Machine’s ‘Killing in the Name’.
Bedlam.
Even my wife – whose musical taste is never usually heavier than McFly – loved them! Probably because she fancied all of them, but at least it meant we could go to a gig together.
But I’m not too sad. After all, we all know they’ll be back at some point. The Jam, Rush (who I SWEAR I saw on their farewell tour 20 years ago), Crowded House, Genesis …. they’re all at it. Maybe it’ll take a big tax bill for Cornell et al to reform, but it’ll happen, maybe a few years down the line.
Hell, I’m even going to see Thin Lizzy next month ….
