A Long Walk

I took my 4 year old son Dan for a walk around the village yesterday evening, after spending a day in front of the keyboard. I needed some air, and it’s not often just the two of us get out together.

It was about 6:30, the sun was down and the stars were out. He noticed them. “Look at all the stars Daddy!”

“Do you know how many stars there are?” I asked him.

“How many?”

“A thousand million million million.”

“Wow,” he said, suitably awed. “I’ll count them all! One … two … three …”

    How nice to see that you’re filling his head with all that accurate, scientific “thinky” stuff.

    Granted, he’ll be a mass-murderer in about fifteen years, but at least we’ll know who to blame for it…
