Updates – interview, and audio book news

August 16th, 2010 • Posted in Book News, Movie News, Reviews & Interviews |

We’ve just returned from Cape Cod where my family holidayed with the Goldens – had a wonderful time, and I’ll post a picture or two over the next few days.  Meanwhile, here’s an update of what happened when I was away:

Audio Realms Inc will soon be releasing an audiobook version of BERSERKGo here to check out details and download the first chapter to listen to – it’s wonderful, and I can’t wait to hear the whole book.

There’s a new interview with me on the SF Site, you can go here to read all about it.

Workwise, Chris Golden and I are on the home stretch with the Secret Journeys of Jack London script for Fox 2000.

And there are a few other projects I’m working which I won’t say much about right now – early stages – but they include a TV series and a new screenplay.

More soon!

FOX movie announcement

May 24th, 2010 • Posted in Movie News |

Here’s an announcement about the Jack London movie deal with FOX 2000 (see below) in Deadline Hollywood.  You can see an exclusive first peek at the gorgeous cover art created by the brilliant Greg Ruth, whose stunning artwork will also grace the inside of the book.

It’s a beautiful cover, and I can safely say that this is going to be one of – if not the – most attractive book I’ve ever had published.

Pay The Ghost optioned

December 18th, 2008 • Posted in Movie News |

I’m delighted to announce that Midnight Kitchen Productions have optioned my short story Pay The Ghost, originally published in the Cemetery Dance anthology October Dreams.

Midnight Kitchen Productions focuses on adapting genre source material for film.  They currently have an adaptation of China Mieville’s Details set up at Paramount Pictures, with Pascal Laugier (Martyrs, Hellraiser) attached to direct.

Screenwriter Dan Kay (Timber Falls) is adapting Pay The Ghost, and from the discussions I’ve had with Midnight Kitchen, I’m thrilled at their vision for the movie.

More news here as this develops, but suffice to say … I’m very excited.

Deat Set episode one: Verdict

October 28th, 2008 • Posted in Book News, Movie News, Random Stuff |

Well, what a great opening episode!  I read in one preview that Big Brother is beyond satire, and in a way I think that’s right.  But I also think that the Big Brother producers were either brave – or possibly stupid – to let this happen.  I’m delighted they did, of course … because it turned out to be a true horror movie, on TV!

One of the best moments was when the guest room, featuring – so my wife informs me – some of the ex-housemates from real life Big Brother – was invaded by zombies.  If only they hadn’t held back showing Chantelle having her throat ripped out, but ho hum, I guess that would have messed up her look for her next Hello! shoot.

Now if the Big Brother producers were really brave, and had a real handle of what the public wanted to see, we all know what they’d do for the next series, right?  Cut the cameras, silence the area, and drop just a small hint somewhere that the world had been taken over by zombies.  The smell of cooking meat wafting into the BB compound, perhaps.  Screaming.  Explosions.  And I’ll bet that at least some of the housemates would think it was real.

After all, they’ve seen it on the telly.

Really looking forward to seeing how this progresses, although I do fear that it’ll be all downhill from now.  Hopefully I’ll be proved wrong.

Writing updates: I’ve just finished a spec screenplay – a zombie movie, no less, that I’m very excited about.  It’s with my agent now, so we’ll see what happens …

And zombies seem to be in my life right now, because today I wrote the first draft of a zombie story.
