I’m back from 4 days in Brighton and a week in North Wales. Full report of both coming soon (hopefully with pictures).
For now though, feast your eyes on this. Sign up for some interesting stuff – the site will develop hugely over the next 12 months – and you can also read the exclusive sampler of my forthcoming novel COLDBROOK. For those of you who were at World Horror, I hope you enjoy the sampler you received … please let me know what you think!
Samplers will be available at various conventions and events between now and publication. If you want some to distribute yourself, drop me a line.
More soon.
…has arrived. I’ll be posting again soon with a full report from the weekend, so please be good while I’m gone.
The World Horror Convention in Brighton is a week away. In fact as I type this, exactly a week from now I will be launching my new novella The Thief of Broken Toys from CZP Publications, along with other books from that fantastic publisher.
I haven’t been to a World Horror since Toronto three years ago, so I’m thoroughly looking forward to catching up with lots of friends, and making some new ones. I’m hoping that the hotel serves some decent beer, not the usual Worthington Creamflow crap, but I’m reliably informed that there are some quality pubs nearby just in case. I’m driving to Brighton on the Thursday, then leaving early on Sunday to drive straight to North Wales for a week away with my family here. Really excited about all this fun in such a short time …
I’m also thrilled that there’ll be a COLDBROOK-themed goody in the goody bag, so keep your eyes peeled for that, and please corner me to sign it.
Here’s my World Horror schedule:
Thursday
8-10pm – CZP Publications Book Launch
10pm onwards – PARTY PARTY PARTY
Friday
10-11am – Work for hire panel
noon-1pm – Mammoth Book of the Best of Best New Horror launch (containing my novella White)
1-2pm – Constable/Corsair drinks reception
3-4pm – reading with Mark Morris
7-9pm – mass signing
9pm onwards PARTY SOME MORE
Saturday
evening – Stoker Banquet
And then some more PARTYING
If you’re there, please say Hi, and mine’s a pint of something real and aleish.

…coming soon. I’m very excited. I’ll be doing a reading, a panel, launching a book, meeting my publishers, signing, going to parties … all of which might well involve a pint or two. If the hotel only serves John Smith’s Smooth, someone better watch out.
Full schedule will be posted soon.
Tracey and I went to a wedding party last night, had a fantastic time, a few civilised drinks (we could only afford a few … a pint of Guinness and a glass of rose was a tenner), and a good dance. Delighted to wake up at 9am this morning to find that it was now 8am, so it’s going to be a nice long, easy day of doing not much. Although saying that, I do have a couple of hours work to do on my new novel (which isn’t sold yet, so I can’t say much about it … suffice to say I’ll be destroying the world again …)
I’ll be writing a novella soon for ChiZine Publications, which I’m thrilled about. They’re a great publisher run by Brett Savory and Sandra Kasturi, and it’s really exciting to be working with them. The novella will be called The Thief of Broken Toys, and is due for release at the World Horror Convention in Brighton next year.
By the way, if you’re thinking of coming to the convention and haven’t booked up yet, do so soon, otherwise memberships might well sell out.
Had a nice meeting last week with a production company in London … more news as things develop there.
And that’s it for now. Have a nice Sunday…
