Happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends.

News at home: rumours abound that Borders has gone into administration. If so, that’s another high street bookshop that’s gone, and in these harsh times that can only be bad news for the UK book industry. Waterstone’s remains standing on its own … and being alone can’t be a good thing. We need competition.

Who knows, maybe there’ll be a rescue package. The next day or two will tell.

UPDATE: Borders not yet in administration, it seems. Check here.

UPDATE 2: Bookseller.com jumped the gun a bit…

This evening I’m off to Borders in Cardiff with my mate Steve Volk to watch our friends Guy Adams, Mark Morris and Sarah Pinborough (and Peter Anghelides, who I’m looking forward to meeting) talk about their Torchwood novels. From there, pub and curry of course.
