BAR NONE – the horror arrives soon

June 9th, 2009 • Posted in Book News |

In a couple of weeks my new novel BAR NONE will be released from Night Shade Books, my first horror novel in two years (other than 30 DAYS OF NIGHT, but that one wasn’t really my baby).  It’s a novel of ‘chilling suspense, apocalyptic beauty, and fine ales’.   I finished writing it just after my mother died, and so as well as the above, it’s also a book about memories and how important they can be.   So it’s serious, and also a bit of a romp, and I’m thrilled with how it turned out.

If anyone is interested in helping me promote this book you can download a beautifully designed poster (thanks to Deena Warner) from the Night Shade website, which you could print off and stick around your local bars, university campus, whatever.

Or, email me through the CONTACT page and I’ll forward it to you … along with my eternal gratitude.

I hope you enjoy BAR NONE when it hits the shelves … and please spread the word.

bar-none-completeMy new novel BAR NONE is due to hit the shelves April 20th.  It’s a novel of  ‘chilling suspense, apocalyptic beauty, and fine ales’.   So as a pre-weekend treat, the first ever extract is now available at Dread Central for your perusal and delectation. It reads with a soft fruity aromas, a smooth mouthfeel, and finishes with a dark and complex aftertaste.

I’d love to hear what you think – do tell.  And you can of course pre-order the book from the usual outlets, as well as direct from the publisher.

Book Updates

November 6th, 2008 • Posted in Book News |

I thought I’d post an update on forthcoming book releases.  Where these are available for pre-order, I’ve posted an Amazon link, but ordering from your local bookstore is always good.

So here we go:

Bar None - sometimes soon, from Night Shade Books - my first original horror novel in over 18 months

The Map of Moments – January 2009 – with Christopher Golden, the second Novel of the Hidden Cities, from Bantam Spectra

Hellboy: The Fire Wolves – Dark Horse April 2009 – my second Hellboy novel, this time for the excellent Dark Horse

The Island - April 2009 – fourth novel in the award-winning Noreela series, from Bantam Spectra

You’ll also see Mind the Gap and Fallen released in mass market paperback format early next year, both by Bantam Spectra.

And as well as this, a limited edition of Mind the Gap from Cemetery Dance, and another book from them at some point. And there are other projects I can’t announce just yet, and a couple of announcement that are pending.

I’m also working on a crime novel. Oh yes.

More exciting announcements soon!

USA (trade paperback)

Six months have passed since the end of the world, leaving a handful of survivors holed up in a Welsh manor with little to do but survive. They’ve made the best of things, planting food, drinking their way through the cellar’s wine and ale, and reminiscing about the way life used to be. But with supplies running thin, everything is about to change…

“This book is beautifully written, it is scary, thought provoking, fun and different.” – Famous Monsters of Filmland

The arrival of a stranger named Michael sheds new light on their circumstances. If the survivors can reach Cornwall, a few days’ journey south, they will find a safe haven, called Bar None, quite possibly the last bar on earth.

“…a fun, engaging, exceptionally strange and refreshingly original tale for fans of postapocalyptic fiction.” – Publishers Weekly

As they make their way across the Briitish countryside, the survivors will experience a world gone strange, where frightening beings fly high overhead, where flora and fauna press in to fill the void left by the fall of man, and, in the wreckage of civilization, where less fortunate survivors, twisted by plagues, hunger, and fear, stalk human prey.

“It’s a book I will be reading again (and again), there are so many layers here, it’s impossible to dig through them all on a first reading. No, like the beer it so beautifully describes this is a book to savour time and time again to get all the subtle nuances. Tim Lebbon goes from strength to strength in my mind, this isn’t horror writing of the highest order, this is writing of the highest order.” – Highlander’s Book Reviews
