New stuff

Hi Folks

Been a busy time here at Lebbonville, so I’m sorry for the lack of recent updates.

Firstly, FOUR RODE OUT arrived from Cemetery Dance Publications, and it’s it’s a beautiful book.  It’s sold out from the publisher now, but I’m sure you’ll still be able to pick it up from dealers or second-hand markets.

My collection LAST EXIT FOR THE LOST received another wonderful review.  You can still pick this up from Cemetery Dance in the USA, or PS Publishing in the UK.

I’m working hard on COLDBROOK revisions and the script for Fox2000 (with Chris Golden), and several other exciting projects that I can’t really mention just yet.

Meanwhile, my brand new fantasy novel ECHO CITY hits the shelves next week in the USA.  Please go and buy it, order it, shout it from the rooftops.  I’m so pleased with this book that I want everyone to read it, and please let me know what you think.

‘Til next time, be good to each other, drink fine ales, and happy reading.

Another wonderful THIEF review

September 13th, 2010 • Posted in Reviews & Interviews |

Here’s another wonderful review for my novella The Thief of Broken Toys. I’m so delighted that so many people are enjoying this story. It was a difficult one to write – as most of the good ones are – and it’s something I’m intensely proud of.

Updates – interview, and audio book news

August 16th, 2010 • Posted in Book News, Movie News, Reviews & Interviews |

We’ve just returned from Cape Cod where my family holidayed with the Goldens – had a wonderful time, and I’ll post a picture or two over the next few days.  Meanwhile, here’s an update of what happened when I was away:

Audio Realms Inc will soon be releasing an audiobook version of BERSERKGo here to check out details and download the first chapter to listen to – it’s wonderful, and I can’t wait to hear the whole book.

There’s a new interview with me on the SF Site, you can go here to read all about it.

Workwise, Chris Golden and I are on the home stretch with the Secret Journeys of Jack London script for Fox 2000.

And there are a few other projects I’m working which I won’t say much about right now – early stages – but they include a TV series and a new screenplay.

More soon!

Some new reviews …

Here’s a nice review of The Thief of Broken Toys from UK writer Wayne Simmons.

And a scorcher for The Chamber of Ten.

Taking a ten day break from posting here now (What, you say, not as if you do it regularly anyway!) As a man once said, I’ll be back.

GUARDIAN review 30 Days of Night: Fear of the Dark

August 2nd, 2010 • Posted in Reviews & Interviews |

The Guardian gave 30 Days of Night: Fear of the Dark a great review last Saturday, part of which said:

After a glut of vampire novels, even fans of horror must be feeling sated by now, but Lebbon’s vampires are not the angst-ridden beasts that are currently prevalent; nor are they the garlic – fearing creatures of tradition.  Rather, they are down – to – earth monsters in a hardcore horror tale by one of the UK’s leading exponents of the genre.

Nice!

Now then … It’s an incredibly busy time for me right now, and I’m aware that this website needs a good deal of updating.  The Library page is missing a couple of books, the Films page needs updating to reflect progress in various projects, and there are other tweaks that need making.  I plan on spending a day doing this early September … so if there’s anything you’d like to see on this site – or any obvious omissions – let me know.

INTERVIEW and DAGGER

July 29th, 2010 • Posted in Random Stuff, Reviews & Interviews |

There’s a new interview with me over at the Cemetery Dance website – click here to check it out.

Also thriled to see my mate Richard Parker on the CWA John Creasey (New Blood) Dagger Award shortlist!  Richard’s book STOP ME is a great debut thriller, and I’d recommend you all pick it up. You can see more about the shortlist here.

I write a brief piece for the new Mind Meld column over at SF Signal.  The question is “How do you define the sub-genre of “Swords and Sorcery”?”

Check it out!

25 Years of Spectra

July 19th, 2010 • Posted in Random Stuff, Reviews & Interviews |

Bantam Spectra are celebrating 25 years by focussing on a novel for each year, chatting about it, and speaking with the authors.  For 2008 that novel is MIND THE GAP, by me and the splendid Christopher Golden.

Go here to read about when we interviewed each other, and to see some comments from our editor Anne Groell.  It’s a nice feature, and reminds me again – as if I needed reminding – what a great series the Hidden Cities is to be working on.

Reviews and Write-Ups

June 24th, 2010 • Posted in Reviews & Interviews |

There’s a nice article here about THE NEW DEAD (titled ZOMBIE in the UK).

There’s also a long essay/review about Swords and Dark Magic here.  Not sure I agree necessarily with everything that’s said, but it’s an in-depth, thoughtful analysis.
